Application for a B2 visa can only be made online. The applicant must complete the DS-160 form and pay the visa fee online.
For stays of less than 90 days in the U.S.: You don’t need to obtain a B2 visa, or go to the U.S. embassy.
How long does it take to process a B2 visa?
The processing time for a B2 visa application is a minimum of several weeks, and can be as long as several months. This depends mainly on the volume of applications to be processed by the American embassy or consulate in the applicant’s country. Other reasons may also influence processing times, such as :
- If the candidate’s file is not complete or the candidate is late in providing additional information ;
- If the applicant is slow to schedule a visa interview with the U.S. embassy or consulate.
Prepare for your interview at the American Embassy
To finalize the B2 visa process, the applicant must undergo an interview with an embassy visa officer. Candidates must prepare for this interview. They will be asked to explain why they wish to travel to the United States. All supporting documents will be checked during the interview.
